“Suspend Planned October 1st Protest”, Hon Mark Okpanachi Urges Youths
Hon. Mark Okpanachi Oga, Chairman of Arewa Youth for Peaceful Coexistence in the Federal Capital Territory, has urged Nigerian youths to suspend their plans for the October 1 protest. He emphasized that protests can lead to riots and instead advocated for constructive dialogue with the government to address concerns.
Ogah acknowledged the Tinubu administration’s efforts to improve the nation, such as introducing Compressed Natural Gas buses, ministerial performance bonds, and a new National Minimum Wage. However, he warned that protests could disrupt economic activities, exacerbate insecurity, and deepen societal divisions.
Oga mentioned economic impact, security concerns, social unity as reasons to reconsider the planed protest as going ahead with it could amplify to the situation of the country.
He called on Youths to adopt constructive dialogue, engage with the government to address concerns and find solutions.
Similar calls to suspend the protests have been made by other groups, including 30,000 ex-Niger Delta agitators and the Delta who encouraged citizens to pray for the country’s peace and unity.
