“Think of constituents before yourselves”, Gov Bello admonishes newly inaugurated Kogi national assembly members
Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has admonished the just inaugurated members of the national Assembly from the state to prioritise their constituents who toiled to ensure their victories over themselves and their families in the provision of dividends of democracy.
He stated this on Tuesday in Abuja in a celebratory meeting following their inauguration along with other legislators from all parts of the country.
The Governor, who spoke in the presence of the recently inaugurated lawmakers from the state, charged all of them to establish constituency offices in all the political wards in the state for a robust feedback mechanism and to feel the pulses of their constituents.
He said such constituency offices would also be a modality to assisting his administration in addressing the problem of unemployment in some ways as these offices would be manned by few individuals to be employed for that purpose.
Governor Bello therefore urged them to put the need of the masses before their own by making sure they responded to queries and requests from the people, a way, he said government would also gather necessary actionable data.
He stressed the determination of his administration to indutsrialising Kogi State, and mentioned the deliberate policies of his government in agriculture, which he said in few weeks, would help the people to get above the poverty line with the modern and deliberate plans of his government.
The Governor was particularly enthusiastic about the gains and gains of his administration since assumption of office and its prospects in the next months, and assured of his determination to impact the people positively.
Speaking on behalf of other senators in the state, the newly inaugurated senator for Kogi East, Alhaji Jibrin Isah Echocho expressed gratitude to Governor Bello for the support all aspirants enjoyed during the electioneering period.
He promised to reciprocate the gesture by solidly supporting Governor Bello’s aspiration to return for another term.
To him, it was wrong for any elected official to turn against the agenda of Governor Bello who was there when they needed him, saying those who lobby the current elected officials were doing that for selfish reasons and urged his colleagues to think hard in their political decisions.
In their remarks, the member representing Okene/Ogori-Magongo federal constituency, Hon Tijani Damisa and the speaker of the state house of assembly, Matthew Kolawole, both lauded the Governor for his commitment to rebuilding Kogi State and his support to them in the recent elections and promised to reciprocate by backing him for a second term return.
