Tinubu Support Group Commends President’s Response to Recent Security Incidents

The Tinubu Support Group (TSG) has applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what it described as a hands-on approach to addressing the recent rise in security breaches across parts of the country.

The group had earlier raised concerns over a string of attacks in the North West, North Central and North East, including the abduction of 25 schoolgirls from Government Girls’ Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, in Kebbi State; the killing of Brigadier-General Musa Uba by ISWAP along the Damboa-Biu axis of Borno State; and the assault on worshippers at a Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku, Kwara State.

TSG noted that the first year of the Tinubu administration had recorded what it considered a notable reduction in major security incidents, especially the decline in banditry in the North West and gains made against insurgents in the North East. The group said the recent attacks were a deviation from that positive trajectory.

In a statement signed by its Director-General, Dr. Umar Tanko Yakasai, the group said it has closely monitored the President’s reactions to the resurgence of violence and commended his decision to shelve planned trips to the G20 Summit in South Africa and another engagement in Angola in order to coordinate national security efforts.

According to the group, the President’s choice to personally oversee rescue operations demonstrated his commitment to public welfare. TSG also congratulated the families of victims who have been rescued so far, including the Kebbi schoolgirls and worshippers attacked in Kwara, praising the security agencies, state governments and citizens who provided intelligence.

The organisation urged continued efforts to secure the release of others still in captivity, adding that the recent successes should not slow down the momentum of ongoing operations.

TSG reaffirmed its support for the administration, expressing confidence in President Tinubu’s capacity to strengthen governance systems and steer the country toward stability and progress.
