We are helping selves by supporting Governor Bello – Sen Jibril Isah Echocho

As modalities for the November governorship poll takes shape in Kogi State, the Senator representing Kogi East Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Senator Jibrin Isah Echocho has said support for the re – election of Governor Yahaya was a support for the ordinary people of the state.

He made the remark on Saturday in Lokoja during an APC stakeholders’ meeting.

He said the Governor has backed candidates of the party at all levels, including the President during whose election Governor Bello ensured the state delivered.

Senator Jibrin urged the people of the state to hold on steadfastly to the vision of the Governor to making Kogi better, noting that the relevance that they enjoyed were a result of the prestige and value he has added to the APC family.

Corroborating the remarks, his counterpart representing Kogi Central, Senator Yakubu Oseni assured of their readiness to work for the victory of Governor Bello in the coming elections.

They collectively gave their nods to the party’s decision to opt for indirect primaries.

In his remarks, the State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello had said he was willing to comply and not deterred by any form of primaries adopted by the leadership of the party.

“Either direct or indirect, I’m ready for whichever form of primaries is adopted by the party, we are not afraid.”

Governor Bello who called on the leadership of the party to embrace all willing and interested members of the public that are interested in participating said the Kogi APC was one big family that does not segregate.

According to him, his government has been able to structure the party for growth, strengthen its membership from what was obtainable by gaining additional hundreds of thousand in membership.

He appealed to party loyalists not to cast aspersions on anyone, and urged them to be ready to embrace everyone in the interest of progress and development of the state.

Governor Bello expressed optimism that the party’s primaries in August would be peaceful and rancor free as demonstrated in the general elections.

Speaking further, Governor Bello cautioned loyalists against engaging in any form of pettiness with any aspirant who wished to contest in the governorship race with him.

Speaking, the state Party Chairman, Hon. Abudullahi Bello said there was need for consistency in the method of primaries adopted by the party, saying that a foundation of indirect primaries was laid in the last primary elections held by the leadership of party which produced all the candidates.

Recounting the victory recorded by the party in the last elections, Hon. Bello said the party’s success story has lead opposition to opt for blackmail and fake rumour peddling.

He assured Governor Bello that the party’s stakeholders would further show their political relevance by returning him to office in the November 16 election.

Insidestory had earlier broken the news that the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State unanimously adopted indirect method of primaries in August for the coming November 16th governorship election in the state.

The resolution followed a motion moved by the speaker of the state House of Assembly, Rt Hon Matthew Kolawole and seconded by the former speaker of the Assembly, Hon Abdullahi Bello.
