We Lost, We Learnt & We Gained
Looking through the window of life, there are two unarguable factors that Politicians should never do without. They are TIME and PATIENCE.
Truly so, Yesterday as a TIME was not ours to recover but tomorrow in PATIENCE is ours to win.
Time changes yesterday.
I have pondered over the events that built up to the moment of our Party Presidential Primary and Convention and what comes to mind is the words of an icon of blessed memories. Late Abdulaziz Ohiare Abu, a Politician, Technocrat and an orator would said, “politics is supposed to be a battle of ideas, and expectedly, the best idea propounders should win. But that’s not true in most elections. Most elections are about the worst ideas winning, not the best ideas winning”. That makes more meaning to us in this generation, regardless of what idea-flank we belong either of those who want to walk by new generation ideas or the obsolete.
Our Party’s Presidential Primary election has come and gone, a reality and a lesson that every election is a learning process.
You win or you lose.
Dear Unique Governor Yahaya Bello, we learn from every election – the one that you win and the one that you lose. Afterwards, you prepare for the next one, Salman Khurshid posited that.
Your desire to vie for the seat of the first citizen of Nigeria was conceived by no less people than the Youths, Women and people living with disabilities. These classes of people strongly believe in you as one that has the capacity to offer good governance to Nigerians, considering the extremely impressive impacts you have made using the positions you have occupied and still do. This became the gaining ground for your robust engagement with the delegates and stakeholders whom the process had bestowed the rights and privileges in electing the Presidential flagbearer of the ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS. Their job was to elect you from whence the Youths, Women and People living with disabilities will take it up from.
You engaged, alas, Delegates Disposed.
Your age places you on the fortunate flank of below 50years, one that qualifies you to demonstrate your prowess as a unifier, security expert, prosperity ace and a bridge between the young and old generations. Over the past weeks, you showed great enthusiasm, energy, spirit and strength as you explored all avenues with tenacious speed of a progressive to win the heart of our Party instruments. O yes, we prayed, we wished, we spoke and we canvassed. However, our wishes, our inclinations, and the dictate of our passions could not alter what became the outcome.
Man proposes, God disposes.
You are a man!
I am a Kogi Citizen that has never been more proud of my Governor for showing that we are no walkovers as far as National Polity is concerned. No one could chicken you out, regardless of all the twists and turns aimed at hitting your back to the earth and leaving you down. You were able to get up, dust yourself off and keep moving forward. You were not stubborn in pursuit of merely winning, you were stubbornly in pursuit of the goal. The goal is that No one is from the minority; the Youths, Women and PLWDs are not people anyone or group of people should have the knee-to-their-necks. You stood your grounds.
Again Man proposes, God disposes.
You are a REAL man.
You believed in all tribes, tolerant of a religions; saw the potentials in women and people living with disabilities, saw the need for a secured & better Nigeria, our education, health, agriculture and other facets of Nigerian economy needing urgent touch from foundation.
Our Igbo friends would say, “Gidi gidi bụ ugwu eze” which means Unity is Strength.
We shall in all entirety join you in giving the needed support to ensure the victory of the flagbearer and the ruling party in the 2023 Presidential and other elections.
You won our hearts.
Long Live Nigeria

Long Live Kogi State
