“What ‘Let’s Do More’ campaign mantra means for Gov Bello,” aide to Kogi Governor explains to Igala Students in ABU Zaria
To Governor Yahaya Bello, the ‘Let’s Do More’ catchphrase for his re – election bid is woven around improving on the areas he has performed well, working harder to break more grounds in order to make Kogi State better.
This was the emphasis of the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Student Matters, Hon Omonu Joshua on Friday while attending the 2019 Igala Day Celebration organised by the Igala Students Association (ISA) in Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria Kaduna State.
He said the Governor has used his position in the last four years to impact students of the state origin in all higher institutions positively, improved educational infrastructure, built positively enduring legacies in terms of peace and unity and ensured Kogi was better than he met it.
The aide called on the students to concentrate on their academic pursuit and make the state proud, noting that the future of the state and the country belong to them, hence the need for them to prepare themselves adequately.
“Whatever you do, you must work hard and pass your courses well. It is only when you make necessary sacrifices today by studying hard and getting good grades that you can make the necessary impact in the society,” he admonished them.
Hon Joshua further applauded the leadership of ISA for their determination to keep the culture of their people alive, and urged them to sustain the tempo, describing individual cultural heritage as something of pride.
“I am pleased by your display of pride in our cherished Igala culture. We are among the largest ethnic groups in this country and we are proud to show it anywhere we find ourselves. You have impacted the consciousness in some of your fellow students and I am sure everyone of you is proud to be Igala.”
On their parts, the President of Igala Students Association in the institution, Usman Musa and his secretary, Odoh Miracle both expressed gratitude to Governor Bello and his Chief of Staff, Edward Onoja for making it possible for the SSA on Student Matters, Hon Omonu Joshua to attend their day.
They said it showed the level of respect the present administration in Kogi State accords the cultural heritage of their people, noting that the gesture has given clear conviction on where to tilt their support base in the coming governorship election in November.
