When Bello Held APC Screening Committee Spellbound

It was good to know that the All Progressives Congress Party is in search of a candidate who can build on the current administration of President Muhammadu Buhari to bring a lasting solution to the security problems in Nigeria.

The APC presidential primary election screening committee was mindful of that and made it a compulsory question for every aspirant.

As shown in the picture attached, the Chairman of the screening committee, His Excellency John Oyegun was captivated and spellbound when Governor Yahaya Bello, one of the leading presidential aspirants on the platform of the APC was responding to a question on how to solve the nation’s security challenges when he becomes president.

Governor Yahaya Bello: in fighting insecurity, there are certain actions that you will take if you are not careful it will seem as if you are being repressive but sometimes you are bound to do so. I’ve led a team of security personnel to the three senatorial districts in Kogi state to demolish houses and property belonging to kidnappers and armed robbers. We’ve also demolished religious centers known to warehoused weapons in Kogi State. When it becomes critical I volunteered myself to be part of the security team and that boost their morale and was a huge source of encouragement to them. In 2017, we moved into the enclave in Kogi Central and dislodge ISWAP from where they were producing Improvised Explosive Devices and eliminate them. I don’t stay behind when the life of my people is being threatened.

Today, Kogi state is still one of the safest in Nigeria. To fight insecurity you must be open and deal with the situation no matter whose-Ox-is-gored. You must ensure there is perfect synergy and sharing of intelligence between various security agencies in your locality, you must ensure those you are hiring to do the job must be very sincere and share your dreams.

Crimes are committed on land or sea and every inch of the land is owned by the people, what I did was to ensure that I got the people involved; from the traditional rulers, various levels of government, religious bodies, and so on. Sometimes, I go the extra mile to sacrifice so much so that I don’t care even releasing what belongs to me by law just to be able to fight insecurity and we are achieving the result today.

Chief John Oyegun: Thank you very much. And I want to thank you sincerely on behalf of the committee. It has been a learning experience, and educating moment with you and you have proved a point, I wouldn’t tell you what point but on behalf of everybody here, we wish you the very very best of luck. It will be a shock for the nation if we can have the courage to bring a youth forward to lead this country.
