“Where were they when I conferred traditional chieftaincy titles on their Family Heads and Baale Adogbe” – Oba Ibeun

… they are bitter souls, hence they cannot blackmail the State Government and its officials
The Elulu of Mopa and Chairman, Mopamuro Traditional Council, Oba Muyiwa Ibeun has queried the rationale behind the call on Governor Usman Ododo to halt the conferment of the Secretary to the Kogi State Government, Mrs. Folashade Arike Ayoade from taking the Honorary Chieftaincy title of Yeye Oba of Mopa scheduled to take place in the next few weeks by disgruntled elements named Concerned Senior Citizens whose stock in trade is to blackmail people around.
The Monarch disclosed this in an interview with our reporter in his palace in Mopa on Sunday, describing the call by the so-called Concerned Senior Citizens as an unpatriotic gesture taken too far just to discredit the unprecedented developments the Mopa community is witnessing under his reign in the last twelve months or thereabouts, says that they are bitter souls.
He noted with dismay the kind of characters displayed by the group members who are supposed to be elders guiding the upcoming generations on the right path for the community to grow but are now the same set of people promoting disunity and sowing discord among family and community members. He pointed out that if they say the Kogi SSG, a prominent Yagba daughter who is making the entire state proud, should not be honored, then where were they when he conferred traditional Chieftaincy titles on their family heads and appointed Baale of Adogbe a few months ago.
He further stressed that Mr. Famodile and Ajayi Michael may not be aware that the Chieftaincy titles he bestowed on their family heads and the appointment of the Baale of Adogbe are more traditional than the proposed Honourary Chieftaincy to honor Mrs. Arike Ayoade, pointing out that among his duties as the Monarch of the kingdom is to confer both traditional and Honourary Chieftaincy titles on individuals who truly deserve it.
“I personally bestowed Traditional Chieftaincy Titles on Famodile Clan/family, 1. Agunhoe T. Aladeniji- Obalugemo of Ilegemo, Iloke and Oba Of Ilegemo, 2. Elder Mathew A. Jonah-Atobareku of Mopa.
Others include Joshua Ojo-Obawo of Mopa, Olorunmaiye Kayode-Atokulu of Mopa
While Micheal Ajayi Clan/Family, Chief S. Olorunjuwon was installed as the Baale of Adogbe’
He noted that in total 15 people were coronated in December 2024 with Traditional Titles and they include Chief Mathew A. Jonah who is the Head of the Clan of Mr Taiye Famodile and Chief S. Olorunjuwon, as Baale Adogbe, the immediate community of Mr. Micheal Ajayi, pointed out that they never held a press conference to reject the conferment.
Oba Ibeun said the YEYE OBA TITLE- Is usually conferred by every new King, which literally means Mother of the King, and in this case, there is no ambiguity as the Yeye Oba of the former King will also be involved in the process of this conferment.
He appealed to Governor Usman Ododo not to be swayed by their blackmail as that is their stock in trade to blackmail people and promote an acrimonious atmosphere that will generate tension since their preferred candidate could not muster the needed support and cooperation of Mopa people for the stool, they have decided to follow the dishonored paths and abandoned the community, hence they have lost touch with reality back home.
He called on the State Government to prosecute the group because they pose security threats to the Mopa community in particular and the society at large.
