Winners emerge from PAAYEF zonal quiz/essay competition
…organisers assure of fairness and equity, moves to Kogi Central
Three Secondary Schools have emerged from Saturday PAAYEF (Pharmacist Abdulkareem Asuku Youth Empowerment Foundation) quiz/essay competition out of the 18 invited schools from across the nine (9) LGA of the Kogi East senatorial zone.
The schools which performed excellently according to details from the organisers were Government Secondary school Okenya in Igalamela Odolu LGA, St Charles College Idah in Idah LGA and Our Lady’s of School Anyimba in Dekina LGA.
Organisers of PAAYEF (Pharmacist Abdulkareem Asuku Youth Empowerment Foundation) quiz/essay competition noted that the three Schools have qualified for the final stage in Lokoja by October while the team were billed to move to Kogi Central for the next zonal phase of the competition.
In her address the Focal person of the PAAYEF quiz/essay competition, Focal Person Mrs. Musa Mimi S. revealed that in a bid to ensure fairness and equal representation of schools, the NGO partnered with the State Ministry of Education to select 2 schools each from the nine local government of Kogi East.
She revealed that 13 of the 18 invited schools participated in the competition which produced the three emerging finalist adding that the NGO would engaged similar selection process in other regions to facilitate a smooth procedure of the competition.
The Focal person noted that the concern of PAAYEF, a Non Governmental organization was to seek out means through which the passion for excellent performance in education would be imbibed by these competing students and inspired in their colleagues.
While thanking the Kogi State Chief of Staff, Pharm. Abdulkareem Jamiu for giving so much attention and contributing immensely to the educational need of the younger ones she noted that eventual winners of the competition would be rewarded with scholarships.
She encouraged the students to ensure that they placed priority on their education as education remained the bedrock for progress and development adding that only when educated could they pursue their life’s goals and aspirations
The Commissioner for Education in his remarks noted that PAAYEF, a non-governmental organization was dedicated to the education and empowerment of Kogi State Children, Youths and women commended the foundation for once again coming out with a way to not only improve but positively impact the lives of indigent teens through it’s educational outreach program.
According to the Education Commissioner, PAAYEF’s education arm was specifically geared towards facilitating access to high-quality education opportunities for students across Kogi State, payment of tuition fees, WAEC fees for the less privileged and grants for various professional development, says Government can no longer do it alone.
The next phase of the zonal quiz competition qualifiers would hold on Saturday, 2nd of October at the Prestigious AbdulAzeez Attah Memorial College in Okene.
