Kogi guber: You have our support, Okun traditional council assures Gov. Bello
Traditional rulers from Okun land have re assured Kogi State Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello of their unflinching support in the actualisation of his second term stating that he was the only candidate they could attest have the best interest of their people at heart.
The traditional rulers made this known on Thursday through the Chairman of the Okun Traditional Council and Obaro of Kabba, HRM Oba Solomon Owoniyi during a courtesy call to the Governor, in Lokoja.
The Obaro noted that they and their people have jointly endorsed the candidacy of Governor Bello without any diverging voices and would vote massively for him in the coming elections.
The traditional ruler pointed out that the Okun people had so many reasons to show gratitude to the governor, noting that among these was the recently completed Ejiba Rice Mill Factory and other infrastructural benefits they havev enjoyed under his leadership.
He pointed out that the Ejiba Rice Mill would aside other benefits, guarantee food security and also facilitate employment opportunities for the teaming youths of kogi west and the state at large.
The Traditional ruler however lamented that the Ejiba Rice Mill might not achieve its full potential if there were no good road network, pleading with the Governor to facilitate a meeting with the concerned ministry to re visit the Ilorin – Kabba federal government road.
In his response, Governor Bello thanked the traditional rulers for their continued support of his administration since its inception.
Governor Bello affirmed that his desires for the people of Okun land in the last general election was to have one of their son in person of Senate Smart Adeyemi to contest for the position of the Senate President of the 9th Assembly.
He noted that although the opportunity was missed, he thanked God that the people were being given another chance to re-write the errors of their immediate past.
Governor Bello however vowed that he would continue to lead keeping abreast the tenants of fairness, equity and justice, as that would be a legacy he would leave as his trademark after his tenure.
On the issue of power shift, he urged Okun people to remain steadfast, noting that power belonged to the Almighty and was not in his place to promise anyone same.
He however advised the Okun people to form a strong united front and support their traditional rulers while he also urged them to continue to embrace peace.
He noted that on the road which the traditional ruler made reference to, his administration has made effort to draw the attention of concerned Federal ministry noting that he received a call from the Minister of Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde fashola who has promised to give urgent attention to FG’s roads in the State.
The Governor also revealed that other inter state roads within the Kogi west senatorial district would also receive deserving attention and many would be completed before his tenure runs out.
Others at the meeting included the National Executive Members of Okun Development Association, government appointees from Okun land and other stakeholders.
