Zonal Security Adviser Flag-off Governor Ododo’s Community Security and Awareness Campaign in Ankpa LGA

In continuation of the community security and public awareness initiative championed by the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, a strategic engagement was flag-off in Local Government Area, focusing on the Ankpa Federal Constituency.

The event was spearheaded by the Zonal Security Adviser to the Governor for the Ankpa Federal Axis, Rt. Hon. Ahmed Mohammed, who reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to grassroots security and inclusive safety strategies.

In his keynote address, Rt. Hon. Mohammed emphasized the critical role of community collaboration in enhancing local security architecture. “The strength of our communities lies not just in the number of security personnel we deploy, but in the trust, unity, and collaboration we build among ourselves,” he noted.

The Adviser praised Governor Ododo’s Renewed Hope agenda, describing the initiative as a people-centered approach to security that prioritizes empowerment, vigilance, and shared responsibility. According to him, the engagement is a clear demonstration of the governor’s inclusive security vision aimed at protecting all citizens whether in rural or urban settings.

Participants were taken through practical sessions on building community-based partnerships with security agencies, establishing early warning systems, identifying and reporting suspicious activities, and fostering a culture of peace and tolerance.

Rt. Hon. Mohammed acknowledged the unique security challenges in the Ankpa Federal Constituency, including youth restiveness and isolated criminal activities, but expressed confidence in the region’s resilience. He commended traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth groups, and women’s organizations for their grassroots contributions to local security, describing them as “the unsung heroes of our local security architecture.”

“We are not here to lecture you,” he said. “We are here to listen, engage, and co-create solutions that will make our communities safer. The Governor believes that security is not just a government responsibility, it is a shared duty.”

He reiterated Governor Ododo’s commitment to securing every part of Kogi State and ensuring no community is left behind.

The engagement drew wide participation from community leaders, local security stakeholders, civil society organizations, and residents, who praised the state government for bringing security discussions closer to the grassroots.
