2023: More Defection Hits PDP, As Members Declare for APC in Kogi LGA »

Ahead of the 2023 General Election, another gale of defection has hit Kogi LGA Peoples Democratic Party, with Members defecting to the ruling All Progressives Congress.

The APC today received thousands of PDP members into her fold, a feat that began some weeks back with the Kogi State Commissioner For Solid Minerals Development and Natural Resources insisting that Kogi LGA is a no go area for the opposition PDP.

The defection took place in two Ward’s of Akpasu and Irenodu that has 12 and 9 polling units respectively out of 11 Ward’s of Kogi LGA.

Their decision to decamp to the APC, the members said, was borne out of the visible dividends of democracy delivered by Gov. Yahaya Bello and Engr. Bashir Gegu’s honest representation.

They described Gov. Bello as a trusted Governor with trusted disciples like Engr Bashir Gegu, said until now they never knew they were living in darkness, expressed gratitude that they have seen the light.

Some of the leaders of the decampees are, Ibrahim Aliyu rep. Ette unit, Muhammed Salihu, a Coordinator of the current House of reps. member in the constituency who represented Mozuette unit, Aliyu Okoro from Ugwo unit, Musa Husseini from kekere unit, others are Muhammed Bala, Musa Dauda, Abdulmumuni Tenimu, Idris Muhammed, Yunusa Adamu, Mgbede Samuel, Isah Attahiru respectively represented katubo, Edimose, Okofi, Agbudu, Dindima, Otuchi and Adangere Unit.

Irenodu Ward also led in the defection with members such as Bala Jibrin Shaibu and Danlami slow who stood in for those from Iganuma, Edekakpo, Edegachi and Odama units, they described their defection due to the inability of the PDP to fulfil their campaign promises.

They however maintained that they trust that with Engr Bashir Gegu, the Government of the day under the leadership of GYB will certainly wipe their tears.

In his l response, Engr Bashir Gegu, congratulated the members for joining the winning party, also tasked them to be more committed and loyal to the system. Engr. Bashiru Gegu said the secret of every progressive to prosper is loyalty and capacity.

Engr Bashir who also commended the leaders from the axis, Hon. Muhammed Tanko Abubakar, KGHA Member representing Kogi Constituency, Hon Bala Ette SSA on Special duties 1, Comrade Usman Sani ( Secretary E-BAG) the both Ward councillors and all the party faithfuls for their Hardwork.

Engr Bashir Gegu thanked Gov. Bello for wiping the tears of his people, promised not to let him down in bringing government to there doorsteps.

The State Deputy Chairman of APC Alh. Salihu Aliyu Suleiman, the APC LGA Chairman Hon Abubakar Sadiq Muhammed and all other LGA Executives, Ward Chairmen, attended the defection ceremony.
