Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Nassarawa State has said it was in total support of Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello to lead the country in the next dispensation.

The State Chairman of the Association, Bishop (Dr) Joseph Masin gave the assurance on Thursday in Lafia the capital when he played host to Kogi State Forum of Senior Special Assistants (SSAs) to the Governor.

To demonstrate this commitment, Bishop Masin has promised to organise Local Government CAN Chairmen and their secretaries across the state for an intense prayer session and public endorsement of Bello at a later date.

He described the Governor as a man that is passionate about the country and his state, especially the party he belongs as demonstrated in the manner he has discharged his duties so far.

The CAN head in Nassarawa State, who noted that he had been following the activities of the Kogi helmsman keenly said as a body, their function was to continue to pray for leaders and ask the Almighty to select the best for the country, saying the state CAN was convinced of the passion of Bello for the country.

He thanked the SSAs for finding CAN worthy of the intimation, stressing that Kogi and Nassarawa States were neighbours whose sociopolitical and antecedents were similar in many ways.

Bishop Masin prayed for the Governor and the country, and described Bello as the incoming president of Nigeria.

Chiarman of Forum of Kogi State SSAs, Hon Ismail Umar had earlier described their principal as a man that has become the face the country’s unity, noting that the nation would witness progress and abundant development under a Bello presidency.

He said the Governor had given everyone a sense of belonging in the state, hence the decision of the APC to saddle him with the responsibility of chairing the Youths, Women, People with disability and mobilisation arm in the recent Revalidation and Registration Exercise.

The Forum Chairman reminded Nassarawa CAN that even as a Muslim, Governor Bello was the first to consider and build a chapel for christians inside Kogi State Government House, a first in about thirty years of Kogi’s creation.

Hon Ismail, who said the content of the demographic that made up the SSAs was evidence of the commitment of the Governor to give young ones responsibility of trust and said he had also not forgotten other groups and has continued to be a bridge the gap between and among religious, ethnic, social strata of the society, gestures that would guide his presidency when given the opportunity.
