As the campaign for the 2023 general election intensifies across the country, the All Progressives Congress in Odolu Ward of Kabba/Bunu LGA of Kogi State have received new defectors numbering sixty four on Thursday during the ward tour of the APC Campaign team in St Barnabas Secondary School Kabba.
The defectors who were received by the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Kabba/Bunu LGA, Hon. Jemibawondo and a leader of the ward who doubles as Special Adviser to Governor Yahaya Bello on Civil Service and Labour Matters, Omoluabi Bode Adeyemi, as the new members vow to mobilize more people to join the party.
Speaking on behalf of the decampees, Mrs Grace Ibikunle said they decamped to the ruling All Progressives Congress as a way of showing appreciation to Governor Yahaya Bello for the construction of St Joseph-St Barnabas, St Barnabas-Orita Ópóló and St Barnabas- Anglican Cathedral Roads, all in the Odolu Ward of the LGA. She commended the Governor for the road construction that have changed the social economic, environmental and beauty of the area thereby making life convenient for the people and making movement around so convenient unlike what they’ve experienced in the area for more than two decades.
Mrs Ibikunle said apart from the road construction, they were grateful to the governor for the appointment he extended to four people from the ward in his cabinet, namely Omoluabi Bode Adeyemi who is the Special Adviser on Civil Service and Labour Matters, Hon Omosayin Kayode, Senior Special Assistant on Security, Hon Zacheous Dare Michael, Executive Secretary, Kogi Office for Disability Affairs and Hon George as Commissioner at the State Independent Electoral Commission who are all from Odolu Ward. She promised that the ward will not disappoint the government.
Speaking as he received the decampees, APC Chairman in Kabba/Bunu LGA, Hon Jemibawondo expressed joy and thank the people for the bold step taken to join the ruling party, he promised that the party will treat them as equal with old members just as the government will do more for the people of the area for appreciating government’s good performance.
While speaking during the event, a leader in the ward and Special Adviser to the Governor on Civil Service and Labour Matters, Omoluabi Bode Adeyemi assured the candidates of the total support of the people of the ward in view of the sterling performance of the Governor in the ward, he said it’s time to reciprocate the APC led government’s performance in the ward with their votes. He expressed appreciation to the people of the ward for the large turnout to receive the party. He said is greatest Joy is to see decampees who joined the party because of Governor Bello’s performance.
Hon Adeyemi said Odolu Ward and entire Kabba have never had it this good in the last three decades from any government. He listed the following as APC government’s achievements in Odolu Ward in less than four years namely construction of St Joseph-St Barnabas, St Barnabas-Orita Ópóló and St Barnabas- Anglican Cathedral Roads, he said said the federal government also have impacted the Zango area of the ward with over three hundred million worth ecology fund intervention in roads/drainages construction.
Speaking one after the other during the visit, the Candidates of the party for House of Representatives and Senate, Rt. Hon Mathew Kolawole and Hon Sunday Karimi appealed to the people of the ward to support them and they will bring more dividends of democracy for the people of the ward.
