The Jamaatul Nasril Islam (JNI) in Plateau State has said it is ready to work and pray for the emergence of Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State as Nigeria’s next President in view of his antecedents.

The body stated this on Wednesday in Jos when it played host to the Forum of Senior Special Assistants (SSAs) to the Governor who were on the Plateau to solicit support and prayers on the subject matter.

The Deputy Chief Imam of Jos, Sheikh Ghazali Adam and Alhaji Sani Muchi who is the Director of Publicity of Plateau JNI, spoke for the body and emphasized that Governor Bello has done a lot for Kogi State and Nigeria because Kogi is uniquely placed geographically and whatever happens to it, affects the whole nation.

“Kogi holds the North and the South of this country. It is a state that every part of Nigeria must pass through to get to their destinations if traveling by road. That people go to their homes safely at all times and for the Confluence State to enjoy this level of tranquility is testament to what the Governor is doing right.”

The body noted with delight how the entire North Central Geopolitical Zone has become impressed by the leadership capacity of the Governor who has approached security and other development issues so well.

Plateau JNI stressed that Kogi as the microcosm of Nigeria was lucky to have a leader like Bello, who despite his young age, has asserted himself in the leadership impressed on him, adding that Nigeria needs someone like him to pilot its affairs at this point in time.

The body highlighted the importance of peace to the development of society, saying the Governor’s efforts in addressing issues of insecurity in his state shows the nation would get it right if given the opportunity to serve.

The religious clerics said they follow the news about happenings around the country especially in states of the geopolitical zone and are happy with the manner Kogi is blazing the trail and that it was time for someone from the region to lead the country.

In his address, the Chairman of Kogi State Forum of SSAs, Hon Ismail Umar, who highlighted some of the achievements of the Governor which have endeared him to hearts of Nigerians especially the youth, noted that Governor Bello is ready to replicate the same thing nationally if elected president in 2023.

Hon Ismail stated that Kogi is enjoying religious harmony as all faiths are being accorded due recognition, a gesture that has contributed to the peace of the state.

The chairman thanked the JNI for the hospitality accorded them, and promised to relay their message and the warmth with which they were received to Governor Yahaya Bello, a man who appreciates any form of support in the journey to 2023.
