2nd term: ‘We’ll make kogi most secure commercial hub’- Gov. Bello

Kogi State Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello and his Deputy, Chief Edward Onoja have taken their oaths of office for a second term as the government promised to develop Kogi State into Nigeria’s foremost and most secured emerging commercial hub.

Bello gave the assurance in his inaugural speech delivered during the swearing-in-ceremony at the Glass House, Government House in lokoja.

The Governor noted that Kogi’s commercialisation would be achieved through the optimization of the State’s geographical location, natural and human endowments for a sustainable future.

Governor Bello also noted that his government would sustain its focus on Agriculture for improved security, Mass employment and increase to the state’s IGR.

He pointed out that Rice, Cassava, Cashew, Aquaculture and livestocks would remain the bedrock of the government’s agriculture activities, promising to build the nation’s largest ethanol plant for production of ethanol fuel in the state.

Governor Bello also mentioned that his government would pay attention to human capital development by investing more in training the people for enhanced relevance in a technologically evolving future.

He noted that the youths would be facilitated with relevant cognates and competencies to acquire further education in leading institutions abroad.

Governor Bello opined that his definition of good governance was the ability to unite the people, things, events and places within the leadership space, noting that he would continue to see governance as a life saving venture which required the leader’s best efforts at all times.

The Governor pledged that his allegiance remained with Kogi State and the citizens and not any political party or tribe.

Governor Bello called on all and sundry to put aside differences in all regards and join hands with his administration to deliver best governance to the State.

He enjoined citizens to look forward to the next four years with optimism and great expectations noting that his administration would ensure it was productive, prosperous and peaceful.

Governor Bello makes fresh appointments, retains SSG, COS others

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has appointed 15 (fifteen) ccommissioners as he commenced his administration’s second term in office.

The Governor also retained the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Mrs. Folashade Arike Ayoade, the Chief of Staff Pharm Jamiu Asuku and the Deputy Chief of Staff, Hon. Sunday Faleke.

The Commissioner designate as announced by the Governor included Mohammed Sani, Asiwaju Asiru Idris, Abubakar Ohere, David Apeh, Joseph Baron Okwoli, Idris Musa and Wemi Jones.

Others were Fanwo Kingsley, Isah Idachaba, Ozigi deedat, Abdulminu sadiq, Saka Audu, Adewale Victor Omofaiye, Fatima Buba and Gabriel Olofu.

The Governor noted that the commissioner designate would proceed to the State assembly for their screening and approval.
