37 Aspirants Backs Indirect Primaries In Kogi State, Described It As Best Formula

Aspirants under the aegis of Coalition of Kogi APC Aspirants has backed the indirect primaries option adopted by the party to pick it’s candidate for the upcoming governorship election in the state.

The group of 37 aspirants led by Comrade Edime Amade said that the decision would check cases of infiltration by the opposition and their agents in the party.

Edime spoke today at a press conference in the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.

He said; “the indirect primaries option is in the interest of the party as it will give room for proper monitoring and avoid the unnecessary racour associated with the direct system.”

He pointed out that being an off-circle election, the opposition parties will have so much interest in destabilizing the party, hence the need to watch things carefully.

Expressing confidence that any of them can defeat Governor Yahaya Bello, Edime pointed out that the indirect primaries option was effective in electing candidates for the last general election, saying that there was no need to change a working formula that guarantees victory for the most popular aspirant. “we advise the leadership of our party to be conscious of agents of the opposition who are acting a script, they are only out to destroy the party. The indirect system was used in the last general election and it was effective and satisfactory, we don’t have to change a working formula”.
