Clergyman extols virtue of service as Sir Okee is laid to rest
Clergyman, Rev Fr Jerome Achile has called on Christians to live a life of service to their communities and mankind in general in order to achieve fulfilment and heavenly rewards.
He gave the charge today at the funeral mass in honour of the deceased Late Sir Joseph Okee at St Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Egume, Kogi State.
Rev Fr Achile whose message was entitled “It is Finished,” said the journey of life was short and that Late Sir Okee lived a good life of assistance to many whose paths crossed his.
He explained that the deceased was a devout Catholic who was dedicated to the service of God and mankind, noting that man would only be remembered long after they had gone for their good works.
He advised Christians to shun lawlessness and use their talents to contribute to the progress of the society and the kingdom of God.
In her remarks, wife of the Governor, Hajia Rashidat Bello said the death of Pa Okee was painful and prayed God to help the family bear the loss.
Earlier, the Chief of staff, Chief Edward Onoja described his father in-law as a disciplined personality stressing that his love, passion and regular advise would be greatly missed.
In their speeches the Children of late Sir Joseph Okee, Mrs Ejura Mercy Onoja and Victor Okee thanked the wife of the Governor Rashidat Bello, the Secretary of State the state government Mrs Folashade Arike Ayaode amongst other dignitaries who took out time to identify with the family in their moment of grief.
