Jubilation in Kogi over Bello’s victory

There is wild jubilation in many parts of Kogi State following the victory of Governor Yahaya Bello of All Progressives Congress (APC) in last Saturday’s governorship election.

Lokoja, the Kogi State capital is currently witnessing a celebration galore as residents of the town, mainly supporters of APC, took to the streets in jubilation as soon as Bello was declared winner.

many youths took to the road leading to the Government House after the news broke out that President Buhari had been re-elected for another term in office. The governor’s convoy was also halted on its way to Okene by jubilant youths and women who took over the road in celebration.

An APC chieftain, Sani Dauda, in Aguwan Rimi commended the electorate for listening to the voice of reason by giving the mandate to Governor Yahaya Bello for another four years in office.

He also expressed optimism that the victory of Bello would better the state’s economy, and improve in infrastructure.

In his view, Maiyaki Abdullahi said the votes recorded for Governor Yahaya Bello is a clear testimony of the acceptance that the governor enjoys. He said the ‘talakawas’ (poor people) have proven to the world that they too have a stake in the affairs of the state.

Hadiza Yusuf in Kabawa said the victory of Governor Bello is a victory for the masses and the minority groups in the state, “it is a testimony that Kogi State belongs to all of us irrespective of tribe, religion or status”. She said.

Report has it that similar celebration is happening in other parts of the state namely Okene, Ejule, Okpo, Adavi, Takete Ide, and Koton Karfe.
