Kogi federal lawmaker presents stewardship five months after inauguration, empowers constituents with multimillion Naira facilities

The lawmaker representing Ankpa, Olamaboro, Omala federal constituency, Hon Abdullahi Ibrahim Halims has presented his stewardship to his constituents as he embarked on empowerment project for his constituents.

The empowerment programme which was flagged off by the Deputy Governor of the State Chief Edward Onoja took place in Ankpa on Saturday amidst cheers.

Speaking at the event, the Deputy Governor applauded the lawamker and described his decision to carry out the empowerment as indicative of his desire to improve his people.

The lawmaker had in his address, expressed gladness for being able to sponsor two Bills and raising three motions which will have direct bearing on the welfare of the people within the last five months and also secured federal jobs for many graduates in different federal institutions and agencies including Federal University Lokoja, Lafia and Federal Polytechnic Idah, Ajaokuta steel company, National Space Development AgencynFederal Airport Authority of Nigeria and a host of others.

The Deputy Governor said left to some people, they would have used their “Pull Him Down” mentality to wrongly put the lawmaker into trouble with the law for an offence he was innocent of, but expressed gratitude to God for exonerating Hon Halims.

He advised the people to pray and wish the best for people who God has blessed and pray for their own rather than try to pull each other down as that is the only way Ankpa and Igalaland would move forward.

Hon Halims on his part, emphasised that he felt fulfilled and returned glory to Almighty Allah for delivering his compaign promise of Economic Empowerment for the people, stressing that the multiplier effect of the empowerment programme could not be quantified.

While promising that the programme was the beginning of many more good things to come for his people, he enjoined them to give him necessary cooperation and support to fulfill his mandate.

The point was also echoed by the Deputy Governor who advised the people to pray and wish the best for people who God has blessed and pray for their own rather than try to pull each other down as that was the only way Ankpa and Igalaland would move forward.

Hon Halims used the opporunity to thank leader of the APC in Kogi State who is also the Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, and his Deputy, Chief Edward Onoja for their support to him and the people of Ankpa federal Constituency.

He also thankes the executive of the party APC and the entire members and supporters for their cooperation and understanding in the past months and pledged his loyalty to the party and its leadership and assure them of his resolve to deliver on his assignment to make them proud.

Present at the event were members of the state House of Assembly from the area, the Deputy Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, former political office holders, traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth and women groups among others.

Highlights of the occasion was the flagoff and symbolic presentation of the items to selected beneficiaries and a musical interlude by a local artist.

The facilities acquired by the lawmaker to empower his constituents include Motorcycles, Tricycles, Sowing and Grinding Machines, Cash Donations among others. Select constituents would also benefit from training in various small and medium scale to enable them have necessary skills for self reliance.
