Commissioner for Solid Minerals, Natural Resources in Kogi tasks Dangote Coal Mining Coy on CSR for host community

Kogi State Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Engr Abubakar Bashir Muhammed has tasked the Ɗangote Coal Mining Company on the need to put the need of the host community as top priority in their exploration activities.

Engr Bashir gave the charge in Awo Akpali Community in Ankpa Local Government Area where he met the management and told them the administration of Governor Yahaya Bello is serious about the provision of necessary amenities for the citizens of the state.

He stressed the need for them to do their bits to ensure peaceful coexistence between them and the people on whose lands they operate, adding that it is only in a tranquil atmosphere they could enjoy their operations.

The commissioner added that Governor Yahaya Bello was a man dedicated to providing necessary security cover for all investors to get maximum value for their investment in all parts of the state, adding, however, that he would not allow anyone to do business in any part of the state to the detriment of the people.

He emphasized; “There is no doubt about the commitment of the Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, to see to it that he provides genuine investors with cover in form of security to get value for their money.

“Peace is key to every development and that is why the present administration has continued to make ample investments in the security sector to safeguard the state’s natural resources deposits. That is also why all investors are encouraged to identify the basic needs of their hosts and provide necessary amenities to make lives better within these communities.”

He reiterated that solid mineral sector is a money spinner and that it was well underway to becoming one of the best anchors of Kogi’s revenue generation to drive development.

The commissioner and his team then took time to move round to see the various projects executed as part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility in the community to include a rural road, water project, health centres and schools under construction.

In a similar vein, the commissioner used the visit to advise Illegal miners to desist from their nefarious activities and constitute themselves into groups of artisan miners or face the full weight of the law as government would not be blackmailed into allowing the criminal activities to continue unhindered.
