LG Poll: Kogi APC Presents Flags To Candidates, Boast Of Victory
The All Progressives Congress (APC), Kogi State Chapter, on Thursday presented flags to its candidates in the 21 local government areas for the December 12 local government council election in the state, expressing high hopes for victory.
Governor Yahaya Bello and leader of the Party in the State said the party will repeat it’s winning culture at the polls and called on electorates to complement the party’s victories in 2018, 2019 and 2020 elections with the grassroots offices.
Bello, represented by the Deputy Governor, Chief Edward Onoja, addressed the mammoth crowd of party members at the party secretariat in Lokoja.
Onoja said; ‘We give thanks to Almighty God for a successful primary election via consensus that produced the Chairmen and Vice Chairpersons candidates for the 21 Local Government Areas, and the 239 Councillorship candidates across the state.
“We also thank our leader, Governor Yahaya Bello, the state APC Chairman and all other executives of the party for ensuring a rancour free exercise, it is a testament that we are all committed to achieving victory in the forthcoming election.
Onoja said the APC under the leadership of Governor Yahaya Bello has a record of winning elections, expressing optimism that the local government elections would be better than the 2019 elections that produced three senators, six House of Representatives members, and 25 house of assembly members.
While encouraging party faithfuls not to allow detractors who are pursuing clandestine agendas to infiltrate their ranks and cause disharmony, Onoja urged all to reciprocate Governor Bello’s commitment and sacrifices with utmost loyalty to the course of the Governor.
He called on all stakeholders to return to their various local governments for aggressive campaigns, stating that the election is as important as every others.
On his part, the state Chairman of APC, Hon. Abdullahi Bello, while calling on electorates to vote the APC in the December 12th election said the national leadership of the party is impressed with the performance of the party in Kogi State.
Bello, said APC is expecting nothing short of victory because of the goodwill of the APC led government in the state and the caliber of men and women the party has lined up for the election, describing them as grassroots politicians with wide acceptability.
He appreciated Governor Bello for his progressive leadership, assuring that the party is fully positioned for victory.
Delivering the vote of thanks on behalf of other candidates, Honourable Abdulraheem Ohiare and Honourable Friday Nicodemus thanked the party executive for finding them worthy of flying the flag of APC. In their separate remarks, they appreciated Governor Yahaya Bello for the confidence reposed in them and promise to extend the dividends of democracy to the people at the grassroots when elected.
