… Says ‘Governor Bello echoes our collective concerns’.

Youths across the country have reacted to a statement credited to the chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Mr. Kayode Fayemi referring to the stance of Governor Yahaya Bello on the COVID-19 vaccine as baseless.

The youths under the aegis of GYB2PYB Youth Support Group advised the Ekiti State Governor to concentrate more on ensuring that the salient issues raised by the highly cerebral Yahaya Bello are adequately looked into before discrediting them at face value to pursue inordinate ambitions at the risk of the lives of ordinary Nigerians.

Director General of the group, Ambassador Oladele John Nihi in a statement made available to pressmen in Abuja on Friday said, the entire country is aware of the courageous stance of Governor Yahaya Bello as regards the management of the COVID-19 pandemic since it was first introduced into the country in 2020. He said despite the stiff opposition and the risk of being labeled a traitor by the elite, the young governor remained firm on the path of truth and faulted our national approach and commercialization of the COVID-19 pandemic in Nigeria, adding that all that Governor Yahaya Bello warned against are now the unfortunate reality of the country.

“Since inception, Governor Yahaya Bello has remained a lone voice of reason amplifying the collective concern of the Nigerian people about our national approach to the COVID-19 pandemic. He didn’t deny the existence of the virus, but strongly advocated for a more logical and organic approach to tackling the pandemic.

“His cries, admonitions were considered inconsequential then, just like Governor Fayemi is trying to do as regards the COVID-19 vaccine.

“We shouldn’t have to remind Fayemi that the unique approach adopted by Governor Yahaya Bello has continued to keep the state safe from the numerous COVID-19 related deaths being recorded every day in his own Ekiti State and other states of the federation, needless to say also that Kogi State recorded tremendous boost in investment in the pandemic year of 2020. This leads us to ask; Who is risking the lives of his people?

“All the things that Governor Yahaya Bello warned us against which included food scarcity, hunger, insecurity and youth restiveness have all come to pass. More reasons why Fayemi shouldn’t trivialize Bello’s stance on this matter.
Moreover, Governor Bello didn’t stop anyone from taking the vaccine, he only advised the public to ‘SHINE YOUR EYES”.

Amb. Nihi said that the news of COVID-19 vaccine related deaths in other countries has further vindicated Governor Yahaya Bello, adding that the country expects its leaders to be thorough this time around in accepting a vaccine from the same company recorded to have killed many Nigerians in the past with their Polio vaccine.

Further more, the group accused Governor Fayemi of being at a fix as regards his presidential ambition, therefore using his privileged position as Chairman of the Governors’ Forum to attack Governor Yahaya Bello.

“It appears that Governor Fayemi is confused and not sure of how to go about his Presidential ambition, and seeing how Governor Yahaya Bello have dominated the political space, has chosen to convert his Chairmanship of the Governor’s forum to his campaign tool.

“GYB did not speak on behalf of the Governor’s forum, Governor’s forum is not the spokesperson of the PTF, so the forum attacking Bello’s message to the Nigerian public is a misnomer and done in bad taste. It would have been more honourable for Fayemi to come out and attack Governor Bello than hiding under the garb of the Governor’s forum.

“Yahaya Bello is on course, his message is resonating and we stand with him all the way”. Nihi concluded.
