EFCC and Kogi Saga: A Finger Pointing at Kogi, Three Fingers Pointing Back at the Accusers – Who Is Fooling Who?
A kangaroo accusation flying around the media, newspaper stands, and major gossip joints across the country is that Yahaya Bello and his team had a certain amount of money hidden in a Nigerian bank. A supposed N20 Billion meant for workers salary.
The accusation above is not only disheartening, but has reduced the Economy and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) to attack dogs doing the bidding of a paymaster.
I wouldn’t understand why Kogi State Government has refused to address the source of this accusation even if it’s obvious and glaring to all, who could be making such a hit at a time like this. People around the Governor out of objection has refused to pinpoint the fact that this witch-hunting idea must have been orchestrated by loyalist to a major contender for the office of the presidency in the country’s Center of Excellency. And the question remains, what could they be scared of?
Weeks ago, an attack was launched against Governor Yahaya Bello for him to dwarf his presidential ambition despite the fact that the said Governor is yet to accept hundreds of calls on him to run for president. The name, Tinubu Support Group, was put to the publication. After which they projected the Lagos State former Governor as the best option to succeed President Buhari. Remember that the insect devouring the vegetable is host under the plant itself.
EFCC miraculously discovered an account designed to be an account of the State Government. A Sterling Bank account. The bank is hosted in Lagos, the accusation is coming from Lagos, and the investigators emaciated from Lagos. I am not going to plant any funny ideas in your minds, but allow you to analyze these points and maybe you can get a vivid understanding of the situation at hand. Thirty-six states in the country and a miraculous account was suddenly discovered in Lagos just as a miraculous hidden camera was discovered at Lekki Tollgate by an untrained Special Agent working for a known godfather during the #EndSars protest.
Mr. Abdulrasheed Bawa is held/hold high by Nigerians. Issues like this will only stain his feathers and reduce his anti-corruption war to nothing but witch-hunting scheme hijacked by some country’s cabals eating away the country’s future without remorse.
Years ago some bullion vans were captured on a live video feed showing crowd cheering high as monies were taken into the premises of a known politician and godfather. Years ago a video leaked showed a sitting Governor with bundles of 100 dollars bill dancing round his àgbada pocket. Years ago, a huge amount of monies was discovered at an Ikoyi high-rise building. These are cases with hard incriminating evidence that the EFCC should be hell-bent on unraveling rather than chasing on a gas from the anus. No single success story regarding any of these cases till date by the EFCC.
We know better than to be fooled around like puppies always hungry for milk. Yahaya Bello is yet to declare his intentions of contesting for president, and the forests are already on fire.
I am advising the well respected institution, EFCC, not to be allowed to be used as attack dogs. Mr. Abdulrasheed Bawa has been doing an extremely wonderful job to revive the Commission and make it the country’s antidote to corruption. Why then reduce an eagle soaring high to the dust?
Finally, I must commend Governor Yahaya Bello for taking the bold step to address members of the press concerning the kangaroo accusation. That is what a reasonable leader who has nothing to hide would do.
The Governor should remain undistracted, and continue with the good work he is currently doing in the state.
God bless Kogi State.
