2023: Engr. Ohere Commends Women For Their Prayers, Support for Gov Bello

The Hon Commissioner for Works and Housing, Engr Dr. Abubakar Ohere, FNSE has commended women from the central senatorial district for their continuous prayers and support for Gov. Yahaya Bello’s successes at all times.

Engr. Ohere, who expressed this appreciation over the weekend in Okene commended the women and urged them to join the popular call for Governor Yahaya Bello to aspire for Presidency come 2023 and provide a balance, prosperous and developmental leadership after the tenure of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The Honourable Commissioner who was represented at Alhaji Yahaya Karaku women forum by the Council leader of Okene L.G.A, Hajia Barikisu Onumoko, empowered 3,000 women with market token in addition to numerous women being enlisted into the Social Health Insurance Scheme aimed at improving the living standard of women in the state while appealing to beneficiaries to make the best use of the knowledge and skills acquired by using the money judiciously.

The event which took place at Ahogede, Bariki ward in Okene Local Government, at the compound of Alh. Alhaji Yahaya Karaku , A former Council Boss and Chairman of Kogi Central Elders Advisory Council had in attendance many party leaders and supporters across Okene Local Government Area.

In his message, “The Commissioner said the empowerment was part of his efforts and that of the administration of Governor Yahaya Bello in running an inclusive Government and extend the dividends of democracy to people at grassroot noted that women and children as vulnerable groups in the society must be empowered in order to succeed, adding that‎ women financial status when raised will reduce poverty, benefit the family and the society by extension.

Engr. Ohere maintained that, hence the state Government under the leadership of His Excellency, Gov. Yahaya Bello recognizes the important role women play in the society, he will continue to support them by removing cultural and social barriers that prevent them from reaching their potentials, because women are the backbone of the family and society, hence they need to be empowered to alleviate poverty.

“His Excellency have over time developed strong passion for the development of Kogi women, giving them equal opportunities for financial freedom through innovative programmes and trainings. This is one of the ways we believe will build the confidence of these women and we will ensure they continue to enjoy opportunities as this,” Engr. Ohere said.

Many of the recipients expressed their appreciation to the Commissioner for the kind gesture. They said, “the cash donations will go a long way in helping them for their various businesses for self-reliant and better managers of homes for a better Kogi State and by Extension greater Nigeria.
