Wemi Jones Leads Mass Defection as Thousands Join APC in Kogi’s Odo-Ape
Thousands of members of various political parties have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Odo-Ape Ward, Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State, in a political rally led by the state Commissioner for Education, Hon. Wemi Jones.
The defection saw several prominent political figures and their supporters formally join the ruling party, a development that further strengthens the APC’s presence in the area ahead of future elections.
Addressing the new members, Jones described the defections as a reflection of growing public confidence in the leadership of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and his administration’s development agenda.
He assured the defectors that they would enjoy equal opportunities within the party and be fully integrated into its structures, stressing that the APC remained committed to inclusiveness, unity and people-centred governance.
Jones also urged members to put aside political differences and work together in the interest of peace and development.
According to him, sustainable development can only be achieved in an atmosphere of harmony and collective purpose.
The commissioner further called on residents of Kabba/Bunu and the new APC members to remain steadfast in their support for Governor Ododo and the ruling party, saying the administration’s policies continue to deliver development across Kogi State.
Among those who defected to the APC were Hon. Kadiri John, Pastor Kehinde Olorunmosunle, Mr. Dare Enimola, Chief Alemeru Dele, Mr. Olorunmola Ola, Mrs. Aiyedero Omolayo and Mrs. Yemi Olorunmola, alongside thousands of their supporters.
The mass defection is expected to strengthen the APC’s political base in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area as the party continues its grassroots mobilisation across Kogi State.
