Hon. Asmau Gogo flag-off socio-economic impact project for 1000 women, girls in Kogi

The Kogi State Government has re-affirmed its commitment to uplifting the rights of women and girls through enabling frameworks of leadership, education, and socio-economic empowerment.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Women Affairs, Hajia Asmau Gogo Kabir disclosed this on Tuesday, during a 1-day Stakeholders Interactive Session which culminated in the flag-off for 1,000 women and girls on financial, economic, and social impact projects and programs in the State.

The Session, held at Government House was organized by the Special Adviser and attended by the Deputy Governor, Chief Edward Onoja, Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hajia Fatima Buba, and other government functionaries. Others were Royal Fathers, stakeholders of gender-based groups, and resource persons from the technical, agricultural, and financial sectors.

Hon. Asmau Kabir said the New Direction administration in Kogi state holds the unprecedented record of having more women in government, hence the need for her office to engage in strategic partnership to empower 1000 women and girls in the state.

She said standing on already existing programs of governor Yahaya Bello, this initiative targets 1,000 women across the state in collaboration with policymakers and institutions through identified Local Implementation Partners (LIPs) to achieve exceeding results. She appreciated Governor Bello for providing an enabling environment for women and girls to unlock their potentials in the State.

The Deputy Governor, Chief Edward Onoja, represented by the State Deputy Chief of Staff, Hon. Sunday Faleke noted that women are critical stakeholders in the economic well-being of the country. He assured that Governor Bello remains committed to security whilst advancing strategic partnerships that will ensure equitable access, opportunity, and benefits for all women.

He commended Hon. Asmau Kabir for the Initiative, saying it reflects Governor Bello’s women-friendly disposition which has helped the State to strategically surpass the United Nation’s 35 percent affirmative action for women inclusion for sustainable development.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hajia Fatima Buba commended the special adviser for her innovation. She the government of Yahaya Bello prioritize women development, hence the need for all hands to be on deck in ensuring its spread. She urged beneficiaries to make proper use of the opportunity to improve themselves and their communities.

Representative of the Director General, Raw materials research and development council, Kate Mary, the Executive Director of Nigerian Export Promotion Council who was represented by Amina Abdulmalik in their separate remarks praised the special adviser for ingenuity, adding that they were ready to partner with the Special Adviser in women capacity building and development, and link Kogi women entrepreneurs to international markets

Other partners at the event included Jaiz Bank, Bank of Agriculture, National Board for Technology Incubation, SMEDAN among others.
