NUT Lokoja Branch Visits Lokoja Caretaker Chairman, Appreciates Gov Ododo For Improved Welfare

The Representative of Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT), Lokoja Branch visited the Lokoja Local Government Transition Committee Chairman, Comrade Abdullahi Adamu today in his office.

The Chairman of the branch Comrade Adamu Modibbo who led the delegation stated that branch members deemed it necessary to pay a courtesy visit for three reasons.

Firstly, to congratulate the Chairman and members of the Transition Committee on their appointments.

The second reason he said was to appreciate the Caretaker Chairman for recognising Teachers during the sharing of the Palliatives in February. This is unprecedented because Teachers have never been considered in the past whenever anything is shared in the Local Government.

Thirdly, the Branch Chairman said as a union they want to commend and extend appreciation on behalf of the teachers for the steady improvement in welfare. He appeal to the government to look into the areas of promotion implementation.

The Deputy Chairman, Comrade Abraham Benjamin in his remark appeal to the Chairman to help in the resuscitation of Recreational Centres in Schools and the revival of Chairman’s Cup so as to identify and harness talented kids like it is done in the past.

Sanda Sanda who also spoke on behalf of the branch commended the Chairman for having Teachers in mind. He prayed for God’s guidance and wisdom to manage the affairs of the local government.

The Treasurer, Zainab Abubakar thanked the Chairman particularly for the seamless and smooth process that led to the appointment of the Acting Education Secretary without ranchor.

The Caretaker Chairman, Comrade Abdullahi Adamu thank the leadership of NUT, Lokoja Branch for the visit. He stated that the government of His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo has so far kept her promise to steadily improve the working condition and welfare of local government staff and teachers across the state.

“His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo was part of the system and he understood the challenges and he promised to improve it when elected. We should not be surprised by the steady improvement because he has what it takes to consolidate and move Kogi State forward. We will do more, insha Allah.”

The Chairman assured the union that he has personally discussed the issue of recruitment of Teachers and Health Workers especially for the rural communities.

“I am highly optimistic that the request for teachers and health workers will be considered so that our rural schools and healthcare facilities can function. The highest form of insecurity is illiteracy.” He appeal to the union and her members to put the Governor, Alhaji Ododo and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in their prayers to succeed.
