Omala Farmers/Herders Crisis: President Tinubu’s SSA on Community Engagement North Central, Abiodun Essiet Donates Bags of Rice to Victims

In response to the recent farmer-herder conflicts in Agojeju-Odo community in Omala Local Government Area of Kogi State, Hon. Abiodun Essiet, the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the President on Community Engagement for the North Central zone, along with a delegation from the Nigeria COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES) programme visited the affected community.

Addressing the people of community during her visit to the IDP camp on Friday, Essiet underscored the importance of peace and tolerance, emphasizing their role in fostering development within communities.

Represented by Hon. Latifah Aspitah Isah, the SSA to President Tinubu, conveyed a message of goodwill to the people of Omala LGA. She urged the people to find strength in one another as they navigate through the challenging period, assuring that the federal government is working along with the state government to forestall a reoccurrence of the unfortunate incident.

As part of the presidential palliative, Essiet donated 80 bags of rice to the conflict victims, reaffirming President Tinubu’s commitment to addressing the challenges faced by communities affected by conflicts and promoting inclusive governance and development.

The community also received assistance from the NG-CARES programme through the Kogi State Community and Social Development Agency, aimed at providing livelihood support and food security services to vulnerable households and firms.

Sani Haruna, representing NG-CARES, urged the community to leverage government interventions for further development.

Reacting, Chief Suleiman Abimaje, the District Head of Abejukolo, appreciated the federal and state governments’ support and requested the establishment of a Naval Base and increased military presence in Bagana for enhanced security.
