Kogi to Partner NIWA in Ensuring Safe Waterways Transportation Nationwide

The Kogi State government has assured of its readiness to collaborate with the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) in ensuring safe waterways transportation in Nigeria.

Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo stated this in a Message at the Unveiling of Inland Waterways Transportation Regulations 2023 and Commissioning of projects at the National Inland Waterways Authority Corporate Office, Lokoja, the state Capital.

Represented by the Deputy Governor, Comrade Joel Salifu , The Governor said it is a new dawn for the waterways Transportation in the country.

The Governor commended President Ahmed Bola Tinubu for appointing competent administrator as the managing Director Of National inland Water ways Authority. NIWA.

According to the Governor, the Renewed Hope agenda of the present Administration of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu is implemented to the later in Kogi State.

Ododo also commended the management of NIWA for its activities stressing that the inovation of NIWA management is in line with vision of the state government.

He called on the management of NIWA to continue in that tempo of providing new ideas in maritine sector that will benefit the people of the state and the country at large.

Earlier, the Minister of Marine and blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola said the management of NIWA is implementing the blueprint of the ministry in making life easy for the water ways Transportation.

The Minister said the present administration of Bola Tinubu is determine to resolve the challenges of water transpotation in the country.

He Commended the managing Director of NIWA for his activities and called on the people of the state to protect the facilities.

In his speech the Managing Director, Bola Oyebamiji praised the Minister for creating enabling environment for the projects, stressing that some of the projects initiated is administrative building, Staff clinic, reception building and others.

In their separate but similar remarks, The Chairman senate committee Wasiu Osheleku and the house committee on maritan Waterways Transportation Ojutu Ejema promised to fast track all debates and legislation that bothers on the ministry of Maritan and blue economy in the house.

Highlights of the event was the commissioning of the Fire Service Building, Police outpost, Staff Clinic, Reception Building, and Transportation facilities.
