Kogi Poly Rector Reaffirms Commitment to Academic Excellence During Courtesy Visit by Okebukun Community Leaders

The Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Professor Usman Ogbo, has reiterated his unwavering commitment to enhancing the academic standards of the institution. This assurance was given during a courtesy visit by the traditional ruler of Okebukun-Bunu community, His Royal Highness, Oba Ige Timothy Omonile, and a high-powered delegation of community leaders to the Polytechnic on Tuesday.

The delegation, which included chiefs, youth and women leaders, representatives of non-indigenes living in Okebukun, and indigenes of the community who are staff members of the Polytechnic, visited the Rector to congratulate him on his recent reappointment. They also lauded him for his positive impact on the institution and his cordial relationship with the Registrer and other Okebukun indigenes working at the Polytechnic.

Prof. Ogbo, in his response expressed his deep appreciation for the visit. He commended the Mornach for the deep love he has for his cimmunity, and for promoting peace and unity amongs his people.

He mentioned that the cordial relationship that exists between him, the Registrer of the institution, Elder Sunday Aiyeetan and other management staff has been instrumental in fostering a conducive environment for academic growth and development.

“The Polytechnic is committed to not only maintaining but also improving the academic standards we have set over the years. Our goal is to ensure that Kogi State Polytechnic remains a beacon of excellence in higher education,” Prof. Ogbo stated.

Outlining the various achievements in academic, infrastructure, workers and students welfare recorded since his assumption of office as Rector, Prof. Ogbo attributed it to his firmness in ensuring that the right things were done at all times.

The Rector also took the opportunity to express his appreciation to the immediate past governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, and the current governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for their trust in his leadership, both in his initial appointment and his recent reappointment as Rector. He acknowledged the critical role these leaders have played in supporting the growth and development of the Polytechnic. He further extended his appreciation to the Kogi State Commissioner for Education, Hon. Wemi Jones, who is also from Bunu land for his unwavering support for the institution. Prof. Ogbo noted that the Commissioner’s contributions have been vital in advancing the Polytechnic’s goals and objectives.

Prof Ogbo who asked the Mornach to help thank the Registrer and principal officers of the Polytechnic for their support and for serving as administrative absorbers, assured the delegation that the Polytechnic would continue to prioritize the welfare of its staff, including those from Okebukun, and work towards creating more opportunities for academic and professional development.

Earlier in his remarks, the Olu of Okebukun, His Royal Highness, Oba Ige Timothy Omonile, commended the Rector for the warm reception given to them despite the short notice. He said the purpose of the visit was to intimate the Rector of their acknowledment of the giant strides being recorded under his leadership, and to congratulate him on his reappointment, while encouraging him to continue to set the pace for development in the school.

The Mornach also appreciate him on the contract appointment of one of their daughters, Dr. Mrs. Grace Oguntola, and praised the cordial working relationship with the Registrer and other Okebukun indigenes who are staff of the school.

Oba Ige Omonile praised Governor Ododo for the reappointment of Professor Ogbo, and assured the Polytechnic of the community’s continued support to enable it succeed. The delegation offered prayers for the success of the Rector in office.
