Kogi State Government Sponsors Five Youths with Disabilities for National Mentoring Program

The Kogi State Government, through the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, has sponsored five youths with disabilities to attend a five-day training program organized by the Federal Ministry of Youth Development. The event, themed “Mentoring and Life Enhancement Program for Youth with Disabilities in the Northern Region,” is scheduled to take place from September 1st to 5th, 2024.

The participants, representing Kogi State, are Ahmed Abdulkareem Onimisi, Ibrahim Daniel Arome, Bako Recheal, Moses Amade, and Anifowese Ayodele. The initiative is part of the state government’s commitment to empowering all youths, regardless of physical challenges, by providing them with opportunities to enhance their skills and improve their quality of life.

While addressing newsmen, the Kogi State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Honourable Monday Aridaojo Anyebe, expressed his confidence in the participants and encouraged them to make the most of the opportunity. He stressed the government’s dedication to supporting all segments of society, especially those with disabilities, in their quest for personal and professional development.

“This program is an invaluable opportunity for our youths to gain mentorship and life skills that will aid their development and integration into the society. We are proud to sponsor these young individuals, and we are confident that they will return with enhanced skills and renewed motivation to contribute positively to the state,” Honourable Anyebe stated.

The Commissioner further emphasized the importance of inclusivity in state development policies and reiterated the commitment of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo to empowering youths across all sectors. He urged the participants to be ambassadors of Kogi State during the training and to network with peers from other northern states.
