Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, receives the Grand Star Award during the TIPU Award Night in Takete-Ide, Amuro, on Friday.

The Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, has received the Grand Star Award from the Takete Ide Progressive Union (TIPU) in recognition of his contributions to community development.

The award, described by the union as its highest honour, was presented during its Award Night held in Takete-Ide, Amuro, on Friday, 30 October 2026.

The recognition followed Fanwo’s support for youths, students, women, widows, farmers and other members of the community.

Speaking at the event, the National President of TIPU, Builder Dare Fiki, said the ceremony was organised to honour distinguished sons and daughters of the community whose contributions had made a positive impact on its development.

Fiki commended the commissioner for his generosity, sustained support and commitment to improving the welfare of students, women, widows and other community members.

Responding after receiving the Grand Star Award, Fanwo expressed appreciation to the union, traditional rulers, his family, friends and the community for the recognition.

He attributed meaningful achievements and sustainable community development to collective efforts, describing the honour as a renewed call to service.

“Receiving the Grand Star Award is an incredible honour, but the true reward has been the opportunity to serve the people and touch lives positively,” he said.

The commissioner said the recognition would further motivate him to intensify his contributions to the community and support initiatives aimed at improving the wellbeing of future generations.

“This milestone is not a finish line; it is a catalyst to dream bigger, do more and continue building a lasting legacy for the next generation,” Fanwo added.

He dedicated the award to the memory of his late mother, Mrs Titilayo.
