Kogi SEMA Team Visits Edeha Community on Flood Impact Assessment

It is no longer news that the water level in Kogi state is on the rise and therefore the possibility of flood as predicted by NIMET in flood prone local government areas.

In accordance with the directive from the Governor Usman Ododo to ensure safety of lives and properties, the Executive Secretary of SEMA, Alh Mouktar Atimah and his team were in Edeha community in Kogi LGA to ascertain water level and impacts on the people.

During the visit, the team had audience with the community leader, Chief Abdullahi Isah Panika, and other members of the community who disclosed their plight as the water increased massively over the night leading to houses and farms lands being over flown and disruption of community activities signaling the need to move to upland and to IDPs designated areas.

The Executive Secretary reiterated the commitment of the state governor to citizens and has mandated the State Emergency Management Agency to effectively manage the impending flood.

Stressing further, the Executive Secretary advised the community members to co-oporate with the laid down rules for flood management and move to areas of safety.
