Kogi Government Mourns Death of Pope Francis
The Kogi State Government has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of His Holiness, Pope Francis, describing him as a towering spiritual leader and global icon of peace, justice, and humanity.
In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo conveyed heartfelt condolences to the Vatican, the global Catholic community, and people of faith around the world who are mourning the revered pontiff.
Governor Ododo hailed Pope Francis as a rare beacon of hope and unity whose moral clarity, humility, and advocacy for justice touched lives across continents. He described the late Pope as not only a spiritual leader to over a billion Catholics, but also a champion of compassion and human dignity.
“His life was a testament to the power of faith, unity, and love for mankind,” the governor said.
The statement further noted that Pope Francis’ legacy would continue to inspire efforts towards global peace, dialogue, and mutual understanding.
The Kogi State Government prayed for the peaceful repose of the Pope’s soul, describing his death as a monumental loss to the world.
