Demise of PAAU Lecturer: University Clarifies Circumstances, Urges Public Restraint

The management of Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Anyigba, has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic passing of Mr. Olabode Abimbola Ibikunle, a lecturer in the Department of Social Science Education.
In an official statement signed by the Registrar, Bar. Yahaya Segun Alilu, the university confirmed that Mr. Ibikunle died under unfortunate and disturbing circumstances alongside a student, Miss Glory Ojochegbe Samuel, with matric number 24GE1034, who was also from the same department.
The institution noted that the circumstances surrounding the deaths are currently being investigated by the appropriate authorities, and it appealed to members of the public and the media to refrain from speculations or drawing premature conclusions until facts are fully established.
“We urge the public and the media to avoid spreading unverified information that could jeopardize the ongoing investigation or cause further distress,” the statement read.
The university also addressed circulating reports which wrongly linked the incident to other students, including Miss Bello Yahaya Lubabat of the Department of Educational Administration and Planning. The institution firmly dissociated Miss Lubabat and other students from the incident, cautioning against the spread of unfounded claims that could damage the reputations of innocent individuals.
Reiterating its commitment to truth, fairness, and justice, the university appealed for calm and responsible reportage as investigations into the tragic development continue.
