Board Ratifies Kogi Youth Parliament Screening Results in Lokoja
The Election Committee of the Kogi State Youth Parliament has concluded the screening of nominees, marking another key step in the formation of the new parliament.
The screening exercise was held on December 18, 2025, and involved a thorough assessment of nominees drawn from across the state in line with established guidelines. Members of the committee reviewed submitted credentials and engaged nominees to ensure compliance with the eligibility requirements set out for the Youth Parliament.
Following the screening, the Board of Trustees of the Kogi State Youth Parliament met in Lokoja on December 22, where it ratified and formally adopted the outcome of the exercise. The ratification clears the way for the next phase of the process, which includes official engagement with the state government.

Speaking on the exercise, the Election Committee Chairman, Comrade Umar Bashiru, also known as the Camp Master, described the process as engaging and orderly. He assured that all laid down laws and procedures were strictly followed to guarantee transparency and a smooth transition into the new Youth Parliament.
According to him, the list of successful nominees will be formally submitted to the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development for recognition. This step is expected to pave the way for the final arrangements towards the official visit to the Commissioner, inauguration and induction of members.
The committee appreciated the ministry of youth and sports development and the Commissioner, Hon. Aridaojo Monday Anyebe for providing a conducive environment for the smooth conduct of the exercise.
The Kogi State Youth Parliament is designed to serve as a platform for leadership development and youth participation in governance, offering young people across the state an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to public discourse and policy engagement.
