Asiru Idris Celebrates Birthday with Mega Empowerment, Borehole Projects, Launch of Tinubu/Ododo Support Group

The Kogi state commissioner of Finance, Budget and Economic Planning Mukadam Asiwaju Asiru Idris, on Monday marked his birthday with a series of large-scale empowerment initiatives and the inauguration of the Tinubu/Ododo 2027 Continuity Support Group in Yagba East Local Government Area of Kogi State.

What was initially expected to be a modest birthday celebration turned into a wide-reaching intervention aimed at improving livelihoods, strengthening party structures, and addressing basic community needs across the local government.

Activities began with the commissioning of six solar-powered motorised boreholes sited in strategic communities within Yagba East. The projects, fully funded by the celebrant, are designed to provide sustainable access to potable water, improve public health, and ease the daily burden on residents, particularly women and children.

Community leaders who witnessed the commissioning described the intervention as timely and impactful.

The birthday celebration also featured a Mega Empowerment Programme, which coincided with the official inauguration of the Tinubu/Ododo 2027 Continuity Support Group, stressing Asiru Idris’ support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo.

Dignitaries at the event included royal fathers, All Progressives Congress (APC) executives, political stakeholders, religious and community leaders, party members, associates, and well-wishers from across the state.

Ahead of the main event, cash empowerment of ₦50,000 each was disbursed to 100 beneficiaries drawn from the six wards in the south-east axis of Yagba East. The beneficiaries, including artisans, traders, youths, and vulnerable persons, were selected to support small-scale economic activities at the grassroots.

Further empowerment initiatives unveiled during the celebration included ₦250,000 each to 35 entrepreneurs to boost small and medium-scale businesses, and ₦15 million to APC ward and local government executives in Yagba East to strengthen party operations. Five APC women leaders received ₦1 million each in recognition of their contributions to party growth.

In addition, a bus was donated to the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Yagba East Chapter, while four cars were presented to loyal party members. Ten motorcycles were also distributed to the ten wards of the local government to aid grassroots mobilisation. Other empowerment items included deep freezers, generators, hair dryers, clippers, and grinding machines.

As part of the humanitarian outreach, relief materials comprising 1,000 wrappers, 1,000 bags of 5kg rice, and another 1,000 bags of 10kg rice were distributed to women, party faithful, and vulnerable groups.

Speaking at the event, Asiru Idris said the empowerment programme was his way of giving back to the people while supporting the leadership and policies of President Tinubu and Governor Ododo at the grassroots.

“Today’s empowerment is about giving back to the people and deepening the impact of the purposeful leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo. The inauguration of this support group is to help sustain and promote their achievements ahead of 2027,” he said.

Stakeholders at the event described Asiru Idris as a leader whose personal milestones consistently translate into tangible benefits for the people, blending infrastructure development, economic empowerment, party unity, and social welfare.

The celebration, they noted, went beyond marking a birthday, serving instead as a platform for service delivery, political mobilisation, and sustainable development in Yagba East and Kogi State at large.
