Gov. Ododo Commends PAAU VC on Giant Strides at 7th Combined Convocation

The Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has commended the Vice-Chancellor of Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Anyigba, Professor Marietu Ohunene Tenuche, for the remarkable giant strides recorded under his leadership.

Governor Ododo gave the commendation during the 7th Combined Convocation Ceremony of the institution, describing the Vice-Chancellor’s administration as visionary, purposeful, and firmly committed to academic excellence. He noted that the steady progress witnessed in the university is a clear reflection of strategic leadership, effective management, and a renewed focus on quality education.

The Governor highlighted several key areas of achievement under the current administration, including significant improvements in academic standards, infrastructural development, staff welfare, research advancement, and the overall stability of the academic calendar. According to him, these milestones have repositioned Prince Abubakar Audu University as a leading institution of learning not only in Kogi State but across Nigeria.

As part of activities marking the convocation, Governor Ododo commissioned a number of completed projects within the university, which he described as critical investments in the future of education. The projects include newly constructed and rehabilitated academic buildings and lecture halls to enhance teaching and learning; administrative and faculty office complexes aimed at strengthening institutional efficiency; and students’ hostel facilities designed to improve accommodation and campus welfare.

Other commissioned projects include internal road networks and walkways to improve mobility and campus aesthetics; water supply and sanitation facilities to ensure a healthier learning environment; power and energy support facilities to guarantee stable electricity supply; as well as other supporting infrastructural projects critical to academic excellence and institutional growth. The Governor noted that the successful execution of these projects reflects prudent resource management and purposeful leadership by the Vice-Chancellor and her team.

Governor Ododo reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering support for tertiary education, stressing that education remains a cornerstone of sustainable development in Kogi State. He encouraged the university management to sustain the tempo, deepen innovation, uphold discipline, and continue to pursue excellence in all aspects of the institution’s mandate.

In her response, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Marietu Ohunene Tenuche, expressed profound gratitude to the Governor for his consistent support and encouragement, assuring him of the university’s continued commitment to producing graduates equipped with the knowledge, skills, and character required to contribute meaningfully to national development.

The colourful convocation ceremony attracted dignitaries from across the country, including government officials, traditional rulers, academics, alumni, parents, and other well-wishers, as thousands of graduands were awarded degrees and higher academic honours.
