Kogi LG Party Excos Pass Vote of No-Confidence on Senator Karimi
Ward and Local Government executives of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi Local Government Area of Koton-Karfe have passed a vote of no-confidence on Senator Sunday Steve Karimi, who represents Kogi West Senatorial District at the National Assembly.
The decision was taken at a meeting held early Monday, where party executives discussed issues concerning the Kogi Koton-Karfe I State Constituency.
Several speakers at the meeting commended stakeholders for their efforts in addressing the situation and upholding the zoning arrangement.
Ukwo Ward APC Chairman, Comrade Abdulaziz Usman, expressed appreciation to stakeholders and party executives for ceding the mandate to Ukwo Ward.
According to the executives, the decision to pass a vote of no-confidence was unanimous, citing what they described as the senator’s failure in several areas within his constituency and the party.
The party executives listed the following reasons for their action:
- Failure to identify with the party leadership that brought him to power at both state and local government levels.
- Failure to promote good representation and political discipline.
- Failure to fulfil campaign promises made to constituents.
- Failure to uphold the core tenets of party leadership, democracy, and the conditions necessary for the survival of democratic institutions.
In view of this, the APC executives said Senator Sunday Steve Karimi should note that Kogi Local Government has lost confidence in him and has no interest in his aspiration or continuity in 2027.
Efforts to reach Senator Karimi for comments were unsuccessful as of press time.
