Group Urge Senator Jibrin Echocho to Seek Third Term

A group of youths under the aegis of Echocho Csnvers Network in Kogi East has called on the lawmaker representing the district in the Senate, Jibrin Isah Echocho, to declare his intention to contest for a third term, citing his performance in office as justification for continuity.

The call was made during a press briefing held on Sunday in Lokoja, where the group described the senator’s tenure as transformative and impactful across key sectors.

The leader of the group, Comrade Umar Salahudeen said the demand for continuity was driven by what he termed “visible and measurable achievements” recorded under Echocho’s representation.

According to him, the senator’s empowerment programmes have positively impacted thousands of youths and women across Kogi East, helping to transition many from economic dependency to self-reliance.

He further noted that the lawmaker facilitated employment opportunities for indigenes of the district in several federal agencies, including the Federal Inland Revenue Service, National Examinations Council, the National Assembly Service Commission, and the Federal Fire Service.

The group also highlighted interventions in education, stating that over 3,000 orphans and underprivileged students have benefited from scholarship schemes supported by the senator.

In the area of infrastructure, the Echocho Canversers Network pointed to improvements in road networks and access to healthcare and other social amenities across communities in the district.

On security, the group commended Echocho for supporting security agencies with operational vehicles and logistics, which they said contributed to improved safety in the area.

They also described the senator as an active and strategic legislator who has effectively represented the interests of Kogi East at the national level.

Questioning the rationale for any change in representation, the group insisted that the district should not “trade performance for uncertainty,” emphasizing their collective resolve to sustain what they described as a trajectory of progress.

The group therefore urged the senator to formally declare his bid for a third term without delay, stressing that the call reflects the will of the people.

Comrade Salahudeen sent a strong message of support for continuity, as the stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment to what they described as “results-driven representation” in Kogi East.
