PAAU VC Endorses Governor Ododo All Campus Games, Approves Zonal Venue
The Vice-Chancellor of Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Anyigba, Professor Usman Ogbo, has endorsed the Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo All Campus Games and approved the university as the venue for the Kogi East Zonal competition.
Professor Ogbo described the initiative as an opportunity to promote sports, unity and healthy competition among students across tertiary institutions in Kogi State.
He commended the Kogi State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development for initiating the competition, saying it would provide young people with opportunities to discover their sporting talents, develop their skills and compete with students from other institutions.
The Vice-Chancellor assured the organisers of PAAU’s support and expressed the university’s readiness to work with them to ensure the successful hosting of the zonal competition in a conducive environment.
Speaking on behalf of the Local Organising Committee, its Chairman, Michael Achor Joshua, thanked Professor Ogbo for endorsing the competition and approving PAAU as the venue for the Kogi East leg.
Joshua also commended the Vice-Chancellor’s commitment to education and youth development in Kogi State.
He assured participating institutions that the competition would be conducted fairly, with every student given an equal opportunity to compete and showcase their abilities.
According to him, the purpose of the Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo All Campus Games extends beyond winning medals and trophies.
He said the competition was designed to provide students with a platform to discover and showcase their sporting talents, build friendships and promote unity among tertiary institutions across the state.
Joshua added that the games would help expose talented young athletes from Kogi to greater opportunities while contributing to the state’s ambition of producing athletes capable of competing at national and international levels.
He urged participating students to use the competition to make new friends, learn from one another and uphold the spirit of sportsmanship.
The organising committee chairman also called on the participants to embrace peace, unity, love and respect throughout the games, saying the gathering should demonstrate the ability of young people from different institutions to come together.
He expressed optimism that the competition would produce not only sporting champions but also lasting relationships and a new generation of athletes capable of representing Kogi State at national and international competitions.
