FMC Abuja Physician Wins WoSA 2026 Distinguished Service Award

A Resident Family Physician at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Abuja, Dr Ahmad Sani Bala, has received the World Safety Awards (WoSA) 2026 Occupational, Community and Public Healthcare Distinguished Service Award.
Bala was recognised for his contributions to patient care, public health advocacy and community service, at the 2026 edition of the World Safety Awards, which honours individuals and institutions advancing safety, health and environmental sustainability globally.
The recognition points to his years of service to patients and communities, including his reported commitment to responding to emergencies and covering clinical shifts beyond his designated working days.
According to accounts of his work, Bala has also provided financial assistance to indigent patients to help them access medications, medical investigations and other essential healthcare services when they lacked the resources to do so.
In a related development, FMC Abuja received the WoSA Public Safety Campaign of the Year Award for its efforts in public health education, disease prevention initiatives and community-focused safety interventions.
Speaking after receiving his award, Bala expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah and dedicated the recognition to his colleagues, mentors and the management of FMC Abuja.
“I am deeply honoured by this recognition. It is a reflection of the support, encouragement and shared commitment of everyone I have worked with throughout my career.
