Ododo Donates N5m, SUV to Church, Seeks Prayers for Kogi »

Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has donated N5 million and a sports utility vehicle (SUV) to The Apostolic Church, Lokongoma Area, in Lokoja, while urging the church to continue praying for the peace, prosperity and greatness of the state.

Ododo made the call on Sunday at the maiden convention of The Apostolic Church, Lokongoma Area, held in Lokoja, where he was represented by the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo.

The governor said Kogi was steadily rediscovering its lost glory through development projects and initiatives being undertaken by his administration.

He cited the Lokoja International Airport, the Ultramodern Market and ongoing interventions in the education and healthcare sectors as some of the projects intended to reposition the state.

According to Ododo, the theme of the convention aligns with his administration’s vision of repositioning Kogi as a leading destination for development and investment.

“The theme of this convention resonates with our administration’s drive to reposition Kogi State and make it the epicentre of development in Nigeria. Our state is accepting the charge to arise and shine,” he said.

The governor added that the state would soon witness further progress in infrastructure and social services.

“In a couple of years, we will boast of an International Airport, and in a couple of months, we will be launching a safer and more commercially viable Ultramodern Market,” Ododo said.

He also listed the construction of schools, primary healthcare centres, clinics, hospitals and roads among projects being undertaken by his administration.

Fanwo, who represented the governor, announced the N5 million donation in support of the convention and the SUV for the newly appointed Superintendent of the church.

“The Governor has also sent in a donation of N5 million to support this convention. In addition, the Governor has donated an SUV for the use of the new Superintendent,” Fanwo said.

He added that the governor remained committed to creating an environment where people of different faiths could freely worship and practise their religion across the state.

“Despite being a Muslim, the Governor is a friend of the Church, and he will continue to provide a conducive environment for all faiths to thrive,” Fanwo said.

Responding, the Vice Chairman of the LAWMNA Territory, who represented the Chairman, Pastor A.B. Geoffrey, thanked Ododo for his support and said the church would continue to pray for his administration and the development of Kogi State.

Earlier, the Secretary to the Kogi State Government, Pastor Mrs Folashade Ayoade, and the Auditor-General for Local Government, Yakubu Adabenege, commended The Apostolic Church for its continued prayers for the governor and the state government.

Other senior government officials present included Femi Obanewo and Dele Nihi, among others.
