PAAU VC Mourns Former Kogi Governor Ibrahim Idris
PAAU Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Salisu Ogbo Usman, has commiserated with Kogi State and the family of former Governor Ibrahim Idris.
The Vice-Chancellor of Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Anyigba, Prof. Salisu Ogbo Usman, has commiserated with the Kogi State Government and the family of former Governor Ibrahim Idris over his death.
Prof. Usman, in a condolence message issued on behalf of the university’s Governing Council, Management, staff and students, described the death of the former governor as a loss to Kogi State and Nigeria.
He said the university community was saddened by the passing of the former governor, whom he described as a distinguished elder and statesman who devoted a significant part of his life to the service and development of Kogi State.
Ibrahim Idris served as Visitor to the then Kogi State University, Anyigba, now Prince Abubakar Audu University, between 2003 and 2011.
Prof. Usman said the period remained an important chapter in the political and developmental history of Kogi State, noting the late governor’s contributions to the advancement of his people.
“Alhaji Ibrahim Idris was, at a time, the Visitor to the then Kogi State University, Anyigba, now Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba, between 2003 and 2011. His years in office remains an important chapter in the political and developmental history of the State,” he said.
The Vice-Chancellor described the late governor as a public servant who contributed his time, experience and leadership to the advancement of Kogi State.
According to him, the former governor’s death was not only a loss to his immediate family but also to Kogi State and Nigeria at large.
While acknowledging the inevitability of death and the sovereignty of Almighty Allah, Prof. Usman said the university community took solace in the life of service the former governor lived and the memories he left behind.
He prayed for the forgiveness of Ibrahim Idris’ shortcomings and for Allah to grant him Aljannatul Firdaus.
The Vice-Chancellor also prayed for the family, friends, associates and people of Kogi State to be granted the fortitude to bear the loss.
