Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has urged All Progressives Congress (APC) youth leaders across the state’s 21 local government areas to intensify grassroots mobilisation in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Ododo gave the directive on Friday when he received APC youth leaders from various local government areas at the Government House in Lokoja. He urged them to take ownership of the party’s mobilisation efforts and communicate the achievements of the Tinubu administration to residents across their communities.

The governor described the forthcoming elections as an opportunity for the APC to demonstrate its commitment to good governance, urging the Kogi APC youth leaders to defend the party’s record through constructive engagement with voters.

He also called on the youth leaders to prepare for the APC rally scheduled to hold in Kogi State on December 8, describing the event as an opportunity to demonstrate the party’s strength and preparedness for the 2027 elections.

Addressing the gathering, Ododo urged the youth leaders to take the mobilisation campaign to their respective communities.

“Go back to your various local governments, sensitise the people and let them understand what President Tinubu has done and why he deserves another opportunity to continue his good work,” he said.

To support his position, the governor cited ongoing and completed infrastructure projects in Kogi State, including the proposed international airport, the Lokoja–Okene–Benin Expressway and the Ankpa erosion control project.

He also disclosed that the extension of the Ankpa erosion control project had received approval.

Ododo further announced that the Ibaji Road project would be flagged off on the ninth of the month, adding that contractors handling various projects had been mobilised to site.

In his remarks, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Monday Aridaojo Anyebe, commended the governor for creating opportunities for young people to participate in governance and political leadership.

Anyebe highlighted some of the administration’s interventions in the youth sector, including improved welfare support for students and scholarship opportunities, which he described as evidence of the governor’s commitment to youth development.

Earlier, the State APC Youth Leader, Buhari Lokoja, expressed appreciation to Ododo for his support, patience and commitment to the youth constituency.

Lokoja assured the governor that the Kogi APC youth leaders would take the mobilisation campaign to grassroots communities through direct engagement and sensitisation.

He noted that their familiarity with local communities and languages would make it easier to communicate the policies and achievements of the APC-led administrations to residents.

“We are from the grassroots, so talking to our people in their own languages is not an issue. We will take the message to them and sensitise them on the development and achievements of Mr President and our Governor,” he said.

Also speaking, the Kogi State APC Chairman, Engineer Momoh Ezu Aliyu, described the emergence and inauguration of youth leaders across the state as a welcome development.
