By Halimat Isah

Ahead of next month general elections in the country youths in Kogi State have been charged to shun any act capable of causing political violence and killing of innocent souls.

The Deputy Women Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State, Hajiya Aishat Omade gave the charge at Ihima, Okehi local government area during her condolence visit to the family of Ojo Enesi killed by political thugs last Saturday.

Hajia Omade said violence before, during and after elections can only cause animosity among the people, saying no soul was worth sacrificing because of election.

While calling on youths to shun acts of violence, the Deputy Women leader noted that Governor Yahaya Bello is a leader that abhored crises saying that the Governor has committed a lot of human and material resources to building and sustain peace in the state.

“I want to put it on record that His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya  Bello has never and will never in any way support thuggery in the State. In his blueprint, peace, security of  lives  and property remains his number one priority. He came into power without killing a fly nor destroying property.”

“If we quickly recall, the reason he was awarded  the best  governor on security in Nigeria was because of his commitments and achievements in the area of security. His effort has stamped out cases of kidnapping, armed robbery, thuggery and all forms of other social vices  in the State.

“For anybody to point accusing fingers to his Excellency that never encouraged nor support violence is nothing but blackmail and we should stand up to kick against such political strategy to win people s sympathy.” she added.

She called on aspirants of the various elective positions in the State to involve in rigorous and peaceful campaign to win peoples heart rather than embarking on unnecessary and cheap blackmail that will not move the State forward.

According to her “In my ward, Obeiba in Ihima there are many  political parties contesting for various positions, but none is a threat to APC. My supporters have assured me that all the APC candidates will be delivered 100 per cent during the general elections .

“Therefore we should totally eschew politics of bitterness and desperation in order to live peacefully with one another.
