*Fmr Kogi commissioner for rural development declares interest in Kogi State legislature in 2019

Egume Ward in Okura Constituency in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State was agog on Saturday as over 200 members of the PDP and Kwankwasiyya Movement defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Their decision, InsideStory exclusively gathered, was in solidarity with the exemplary qualities of former Kogi State Commissioner for Rural Development, Hon Enema Paul who declared his intention to contest for Kogi State House of Assembly to represent the constituency.

The decampees, lead by Sunday Omo said their decision to join the ruling party was informed by the humility and developmental impact the immediate past commissioner for rural development has had on their communities.

They particularly lauded him for channeling his resources and energy into addressing some of their challenges by drilling boreholes, opening up of several rural roads, empowering women and youths from the area, payment of school fees for indigent students at all levels of education among others in the short period he had occupied public office.

They therefore urged stakeholders in the party to give necessary support as he has demonstrated his resolve to give a good account of himself through adequate representation if given the mandate to do so.

“Government and leadership are about ability to attract requisite development to your people. Hon Enema Paul has demonstrated what a good representation is in view of his passionate effort to impact the society positively through the little resources at his disposal. This is why we have decided today to embrace the APC.”

Receiving the defectors, the Zonal Chairman for Kogi East, Hon Ahmed Attah assured them of equal teatment, stressing that APC does not discriminate its members, whether old or new.

In the same vein, members of the Red Cap revolution Movement Popularly known as “Kwankwasiya Amana” in the area have pledged their commitment to the course of the APC because of the efforts of Hon Enema Paul in providing their communities with dividends of democracy.

In his reaction, Hon Enema Paul expressed grattitude to the decampees and people of the constituency for their show of appreciation to his contribution to the society.

He urged them to sustain their show of love and solidarity with the APC, and appealed for vote for candidates of the party at all levels of election in next year's election.

The Occasion was graced several dignitaries including the Kogi East Senatorial District aspirant on the platform of APC, Alhaji Jibrin Isah Echocho; Kogi East Zonal Chairman of the party, Hon Ahmed Attah; the Deputy Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt.Hon Hassan Baiwa Abdullahi; and the immediate past Commissioner for Rural Development in Kogi State, Hon Enema Paul.

Also present at the occasion was the administrator for Dekina Local Government area, Hon Prince Ishaq Shaibu Okolo; the DLG of the LGA, Hon Abubakar Aliyu; the Vice Chairman of APC in Okura Ward, among others.
