DR Congo understudy YESSO initiative implementation model in Kogi

A Delegation from the Democratic Republic of Congo has on Tuesday visited Kogi State to understudy it’s numerous social investment programme implementation across the State. 

The delegation which was led by the Country’s Chief of Staff, Ministry of Social Inclusion Prof.  john Mugabusha ka, seek to acquaint themselves with Kogi State’s Youth Employment and Social Support Operation (KGYESSO)  model of implementation and the Single Social Register within their two day of visit.

While receiving the delegation at the Government House, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Multilateral , Honourable Ibrahim Adoga explained that YESSO is a Federal Government Initiative under the office of the Vice-President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo which had under it programmes like Npower, Trader Money, School Children Feeding programme and a host of other initiatives targeted at the Youths, Women,  Children and the less privilege in the Society.

He stated that Kogi State was a record breaking state, which it’s YESSO programme has since become a model for other state to learn from. 

Honourable Adoga reiterated that Youth Empowerment remained  a cardinal focus of the Kogi State New Direction Administration under the  leadership of the State Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello, who has given huge support to the initiative in the state, while he further assured of the Governor’s steadfastness in ensuring the continuity of such people oriented initiative.

He also stated that the Bottom up implementation approach and the Single Social Register of YESSO in the state has enabled the programme to reach out adequately  to the people it was meant for. 

He similarly thanked the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, further urging the delegation to replicate such initiative and the state’s implementation model in their country.

The Commissioner for finance,  Honourable Asiwaju Ashiru similarly thanked the Governor for providing an enabling financial environment and economic reforms which has ensured appropriate financial discipline and the judicious use of the available resources within the state.

He said in Kogi State the existence of policies and Laws like the Fiscal Responsibility Act,  Public Procurement Law and other similar financial discipline policy has helped collaborators, world organizations and other supporters to trust that their money was in safe hands and appropriately utilized for the desired purpose. 

The National Coordinator, YESSO Hajara Umar in her own remarks recalled the challenges faced by the Agency in the process of bringing about change to the system.

She acknowledged that the Federal Government appreciates the Successes recorded from the programme across the fifteen states where it is currently in operation, stating that today was another celebration of hard work.

The National Coordinator revealed that the choice of Kogi State by the delegation for understudy was not accidental as the state was strategically located at the nerve center of the country and as such the State was poised to be at its best performance.

She however thanked the State Government for supporting the Initiative and giving it a free hand to operate without political interference, while she also commended the state for performing beyond expectations in the area of interventions and encouraged that more could still be achieved.
