Etisalat Nigeria changes name to 9mobile

As a fallout from the parent brand's demand that the Nigerian arm discontinue the use of its brand name, front line telecommunications operator in Nigeria, Etisalat is changing its brand name to 9Mobile.  

There has been, for few days now, hazy understanding of what is going on around the company, but Inside Story gathered that as part of the restructuring plan from the international arm of the company, it wants to yank the Nigerian market off, leading to speculations that it is leaving the country.

Inside Story further gathered that Olusanya who was appointed as the chief executive officer of Etisalat Nigeria to oversee the transition of the company due to his experience in the smooth transition of Celtel to Airtel may have come with this new name considering the need for a change of name.
